DMV (department of motor vehicles) the tag line of DMV states that the team works to provide safety and security for the country and people. The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles was founded in the year 1917. In the year 1919 the state legislature ordered a force of 30 inspectors to inspect and weigh the trucks on the borders of New York and Massachusetts. The inspectors under this department have undergone rigorous training and they utilize the latest of technologies to carry out their works. And today these inspectors are certified as P.O.S.T (Police Officers Standards and Training)

Their main objective is to see to it that there are no frequent cases of accidents occurring in the road. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Division operates from six fixed inspections sites and patrols all highways and secondary roads throughout the State. The badge worn by the inspectors of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles includes the state seal which became very famous and since 1931 has been worn by inspectors of all departments. It also included their motto “Qui Transtulit Sustinet” (meaning He Who Transplanted Still Sustains).
The duties conducted by a certified motor vehicle inspector are to examine
the motor vehicles and to see to it that they are properly licensed. They must
also see to it that the motor vehicles meet all the requirements put forth by
the state’s department. Each Inspector at DMV is proud to serve the
citizens of the State and promises to continue their duty in creating a safer
highway environment for one and all.
Process for becoming a Certified Motor Vehicle Inspector
- If you want to seriously become a motor vehicle inspector it’s but obvious that you have to spend the whole day amidst vehicles.
- You have to have the knack of controlling the traffic
- You must have interest in inspecting cars
- You must have a thorough knowledge about the vehicle’s working conditions.
- A person willing to become a member of the department has to be at least above 17yrs.
- Apart from that they must also have prior experience for at least one year in repairing motor cycles.
- Students appearing for the examinations must score a minimum of 70 percent.
- For the purpose of admission, applicants need to submit their application to the informed postal address which will directly reach the bureau office.
- At the time of appointment, the applicant must possess a valid State driver’s license.
Over all this work needs lot of efforts, knowledge, and strength and last but not the least a good presence of mind to tackle the situations.
